Sweet Meadow Yarn Club February Box Unveiled

This little project is sure to warm your heart and please your senses!  Tuck the sachet into the lace banding at the back, or add it with the stuffing for a milder scent.

      Slip the first stitch from left needle to right needle, then cont BO.

      Construction Notes

      Two heart shapes are worked flat, then sewn together using the mattress stitch. Leave a gap for inserting stuffing and optional lavender sachet. 

      Hearts (make 2)

      With MC and the long-tail cast on, CO 3 sts.
      Setup Row (WS): Purl.
      Row 1 (RS): K1, RLI, k to last st, LLI, k1 - 5 sts.
      Row 2 (WS): Purl.
      Rep these two rows 10 times, ending with WS row - 25 sts.
      Next Row (RS): K1, RLI, k to last st, LLI, k1 - 27 sts.
      Next Row (WS): Purl.
      Next Row: Knit.
      Next Row: Purl.
      Rep these four rows 7 times - 41 sts.
      Next Row (RS): Knit across 20 sts, BO 1 st, k to end of row.
      You now have 20 sts on each side. Beg working each side separately. 

      Shape Top Left
      Next Row (WS): purl - 20 sts.
      Next Row (RS): K to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1 - 19 sts.
      Next Row: Purl.
      Next Row: K1, SSK, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1 - 17 sts.
      Rep these two rows once more. - 15 sts.
      Next Row (WS): P1, P2tog, p to last 3 sts, p2tog tbl, p1 - 13 sts.
      Next Row: K1, SSK, k to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1 - 11 sts.
      Next Row: BO 2 sts with sloped bind off - 9 sts
      Rep this row once - 7 sts.
      Next row: BO all rem sts with sloped bind off.

      Shape Top Right
      Next Row (WS): With new strand of yarn, purl across - 20 sts.
      Next Row (RS): K1, SSK, k to end of row - 19 sts.
      Next Row: Purl.
      Cont working top right as for top left.

      Finishing
      Weave in ends and block.
      Beg on RS, join hearts tog with mattress st. Stop when the opening is about 3".
      Insert pillow stuffing, and optionally, the lavender sachet.
      Finish sewing seam.

       

      Rosebud Lace Overlay

      With CC and using the Picot Cast On, CO 49 sts.
      Work one full repeat (11 rows) in Rosebud Lace St.
      BO all sts with Picot Bind Off.
      Finishing
      Weave in ends and block.
      Length should approximately match the circumference of heart.
      Wrap lace around the heart, placing the 3rd rosebud at center-front. Angle lace to fit smoothly. Sew back seam. Glue or optionally sew (with beading needle) a seed pearl to the middle of the front-center rosebud.
