Introducing the Shetland Yarn Club Quarterly

You asked and we listened!

We have had many requests for a quarterly yarn club over the last eighteen months, and have now converted to a quarterly subscription. Here's a quick visual of the differences. Scroll down for Faqs and info about the new weekly zoom sessions. Please let me know if you have any other questions or if I've omitted a detail.

FAQS

We've also had a few questions:

  1. Do I need to cancel my subscription? No, all current subscriptions will be automatically canceled on January 29th, 2026.
  2. Will I need to re-subscribe for the new quarterly subscription? Yes, and there is an early-bird registration period (from now until March 15th). Early birds receive $10 off their first box, plus a small knitting related gift (or two). Please keep in mind that you are automatically charged for your first box when you sign up, but that it won't ship until April 3rd.
  3. When does the quarterly box ship? Boxes will ship between the 3rd and 5th of each quarter (April, July, October and January).
  4. When will I be invoiced? You will be invoiced for your initial box upon signup, then on the 2nd of each quarter thereafter (July 2nd, October 2nd, January 2nd, April 2nd, etc.)
  5. Will I still have access to the tutorials after our monthly subscription ends? Yes you will have access via the QR code and link on each of your printed patterns.
  6. Why are you shifting to a quarterly subscription? There are three main reasons. Firstly, I've had people request the quarterly box, because it's too easy to fall behind on projects. Secondly, the shipping is so expensive. You'll save quite a bit on shipping with a quarterly plan. Finally, for those of you who prefer larger projects, this allows me time to design and knit them ahead of time!
  7. Will the project still be a surprise? The larger project needs to be knit with plenty of lead time for stocking supplies and creating more in-depth videos, so the projects and colors will now be posted one month in advance on the Shetland yarn club page, at https://sweetmeadowknits.com/pages/yarn-club.
  8. Will you be doing more stranded colorwork? Yes, the focus for the foreseeable future will be on stranded colorwork exclusively.
  9. How many skeins of yarn are included? Each quarter you'll receive eight seasonal colors in a range of light, medium, and dark values, with one or two accent colors. Five or six colors will be Jamieson's of Shetland Spindrift, and two or three colors will be Jamieson's and Smith 2-ply jumper weight.
  10. Will you be repeating any colors from the monthly subscription? Not for several years. Between the two Shetland yarn companies there are over three hundred colors available in the fingering weight yarn.
  11. Will we still be getting yarn samples? Yes, eight cardboard bobbins will be included in each box. Wind them with your yarns and use them to explore color combinations.
  12. Will the packaging be different? Yes. Although many of you love the design of the monthly boxes, the new boxes will be both larger and a bit kinder to the environment.
  13. Are zoom sessions mandatory? Zoom sessions are optional (see below for more details).

      Zoom Sessions

Zoom Sessions begin February 7th, 2026

11:00 AM Eastern, 8 AM Pacific.

        https://us06web.zoom.us/j/87979180101?pwd=wptwgS32VA415wbf8WshMiwl0iZbaw.1 Meeting ID: 879 7918 0101 Passcode: 974618

I'm very much looking forward to meeting you! The sessions will be recorded for anyone who is not able to attend, or who prefers to watch at another time.  Cameras on or off - either way is fine (normally I'm still working in my pj's at this time, but promise I'll be dressed with hair brushed!). Hot beverage also optional.

The zoom sessions are informal, and focused on stranded colorwork for the most part. I'll kick things off with a stranded colorwork demo and then we'll have knitting share & tell for anyone who feels like sharing, and Q & A.

Everyone is welcome to the zoom sessions. You do not need to be working on one of the subscription projects, or a colorwork project, or any project at all. Talking recipes, books & etc is allowed, but honestly who has the time? (I like audio books though).

I'm looking forward to seeing you at the zoom sessions. The more the merrier!

        Until then, happy knitting!
