      Directions

Construction Note: Directions here are written for a two-color selvedge.  If you prefer the look of a single color at each selvedge, use the alternative row instructions specified above in special techniques.

With one strand of yarn A (Eesit) and one strand of yarn B (Blue Lovat or Nighthawk), CO 22 sts with the Double Knitting Cast On. Beg working in Double Knit, following one of the charts above:

Row 1: Sl first two sts tog. purlwise wyif, *K1 in Yarn A wyib, p1 in Yarn B wyif; rep from * to last 2 sts, wyib k2 tog with both yarns.

Row 2: Sl first two sts tog. purlwise wyif, *K1 in Yarn B wyib, p1 in Yarn A wyif; rep from * to last 2 sts, wyib k2 tog with both yarns.

Rep these two rows, switching colors as indicated in the chart.

BO using the DK bind off technique (see notes). Break yarns, leaving a 12" length of Yarn B for sewing the snowflake charm.

      Finishing

Thread the long yarn end onto a tapestry needle. Push needle bet the layers and bring out through the middle of the top. Remove needle and slip charm onto yarn. Make a knot underneath the charm, leaving about two inches of yarn bet the bookmark and the charm. Rethread the tapestry needle and sew back into the bookmark at the top-middle (where yarn emerges from bookmark). Secure, weave in all other ends and block
