Spring Knitting

Spring Knitting

Somewhere in the past ten years Spring has become my favorite season.  Perhaps because it’s planting season, or perhaps it is the season for knitting with lighter weight yarns.  And especially this year, it’s the season for lacy, feminine tops and accessories.  The fashion runways for Spring ‘25 are full of barely-there lace dresses and hosiery. Now I probably wouldn’t wear a  lace dress, but maybe a swimsuit coverup. In fact, I am in the middle of swatching for a loosely knit top design with a delicate lily of the valley lace panel flowing down the back.  Here’s photo of the lace panel swatch:

The yarn is Twisp, from Hikoo.  “Twisp combines the long soft fiber of Pima Cotton, the luster and drape of Bamboo Viscose, and the breathable durability of Hemp into a soft and radiant yarn”.  This is my first time working with it, and I love how it feels cool to the touch.  Knitting with Twisp feels like Spring.  I couldn’t decide between short or long sleeves. Then I thought, Spring brings such variable weather… why not make both versions?  I’m beginning the cap-sleeve version tomorrow (in Lagoon). I’ll update this post with progress pics as I knit.

Stay tuned and happy knitting!
